PEACE

unfashionable since the dawn of humanity

Pictured here are two angry elephants, just a few of the millions who marched this past weekend in protest of US intentions to invade Iraq.  We were at the San Francisco rally on Sunday, and it was incredible.  Conservative estimates put the attendance as 150,000 and I imagine there were plenty more.  Despite media reports of violence, we saw none and the overall vibe was constructive and cooperative.  I have heard reports that the "civil unrest" came from a group who set smoke bombs (not tear gas from the police) and broke windows.  Of course, even in a peaceful effort of hundreds of thousands, the media will gobble up stories about the few who break things.  From what I observed, the protesters were a comprehensive cross-section of society, and I was delighted to see entire families, including young children, there to voice their frustration with modern imperialism.

Aggressive US foreign policy (a.k.a. subjugation of the third world) is great for big business and is the reason we are very grossly the richest nation on earth.  So my cohorts and I marched as "CEOs FOR WAR" with suits, cigars and party hats:

You need not travel far to make your voice heard.  In fact, a place like San Diego could use all the support we can get.  If you feel it is foolish to launch a foreign war in spite of international opposition please make your voice heard any way you can.  Don't be afraid to be vocal about it at work or with your own family.  I fear that a government unwilling to listen to international pressure will turn its back on its own people's voice, but we can at least show the global community that this government's war certainly does NOT represent the wishes of its citizens.
