Amber Inwood: thursday, june 5, 2003 painting the dreamscape The dream started out with my 5 brothers and I mucking around with some chimpanzees at a place in Morgan (town near where I live in Australia) where we used to go swimming as kids. After some time of swinging off the rope and jumping in the water with the chimps and my brothers I decided to ditch them and go exploring on some cliffs nearby. Next thing I know, I’m on the main street of Morgan near the pub (which isn’t much for the feral dinky town that it is) when my good mate Terry from New Zealand suddenly appears and is sitting in a tree. We sit back and chat for a while about what’s been going on in New Zealand. After a while Terry pulls out a canvas and some oil paints. He then proceeds to get to work painting a picture of what looks like a cross between the labyrinth (that old 80’s movie with David Bowie in spandex) and one of the Beatles animated videoclips but with purple Rome upside down in it as the sky. The sky is very low. When he was done we proceeded to climb into the picture and walk around in the Labyrinth/Beatles/upside down Rome world he’s created. The upside down Rome sky is so low that I can almost reach up and touch it, but not quite, and it’s a light purple. But then the oil starts to drip and it’s messing my good shirt so we decide to get outta there. So Terry whips out his trusty sketch pad again and this time using only charcoal after the oil painting fiasco, draws another world. We then proceed to go into various different worlds he draws, pretty much all of which I can’t quite remember, but my shirt isn’t getting messy so I’m happy. On the last time I draw a picture and then that’s the end.
