My drive over the Rockies was easier than expected, although I had to share the slow lane with the trucks on the steep up grades. This section of Interstate 70 follows the Colorado River through this incredible gorge. *

There is no room for the freeway on level ground and much of it has been built elevated on posts, like a monorail. *

This is my lunch spot near one of the summits. I gave up trying to eat on an outside bench, despite my desire to get out of the car for a while. Too windy and cold! *
