we anchored in two places between ascension and xcalak, as i recall. majaual (or mahawal or any of a half dozen local spellings) and espiritu santo.
we left ascension on february 7th, the day after Felix was elected governor of the yucatan, after a night of fun word games and then a conch horn sendoff. we spent hours tacking out of that bay yet still arrived espiritu santo around 4pm. we anchored in deepish very clear water just north of the pass and as i recall, the guidebook makes this entry a cakewalk. |
