we arrived at majahual around 2pm. the first thing we saw was the cruise ship terminal which offers no protection whatsoever, since the dock is on pilings and is therefore not a breakwater. from what we can tell, cruiseships stop in around morning, unload a bunch of fat people, and then gather them all up again before pulling anchor at sunset and heading very far away. this gives this one-sleepy town a very odd and expectant feel, as if their entire economy and worldview kicks into action for three hours in the afternoon, and then slips away. we found ti much more pleasant to be around town before and after the mothership visit, not during. |
