Frequently Asked Questions

Well, so far, very few questions.  It must mean the class either totally gets it or isn't even pretending to follow along.  More to follow...

24'?  Are you guys crazy???

True, most long-distance cruisers do so from the cockpit of a comfy 35' - 40' yacht.  One major difference between those people and ourselves is MONEY.  The other difference is TOLERANCE FOR DISCOMFORT.  Our abundance of the latter helps us deal with our lack of the former.  If you judge by size alone, there is nothing about a 40' boat that makes it safer than a 24'.  This particular model (the Yankee Dolphin) has been sailed all over the world... and we mean major crossings of the Pacific Ocean, in stormy weather!    Part of my purpose with this website is to demonstrate that independent sailing can be done on a reasonably small budget if you have the desire.

Since I can't join you, how can I help?

Aside from wiring us money, you could get us in touch with anyone you know in the Caribbean (including Central America) who would be willing to meet up with us / feed us / put us up in exchange for stories from the sea, well-rehearsed guitar tunes, and chemistry lessons.
